The Wilderness First Aid course we use was developed by AdventureMed LLC, whom we partner with and provide the course material. This two-day course provides an introduction to providing basic first aid in remote and/or austere environments. This course covers several areas of common issues you may encounter if you are out with others, in groups, or even by yourself in the wilderness. Topics include Airway and breathing, bleeding, trauma, heat and cold weather injuries, bites and stings, common medical problems, how to recognize them, treat them, and evacuate them to a hospital. We will look at how to build a robust first aid kit, what to carry, and what not to carry. By the end of this course, you will have earned the WFA Certification (valid for two years), as well as Stop the Bleed and CPR with AED certificates.
